What are the differences between flame-retardant cables and fire-resistant cables

Nov 04, 2023

1. The first difference lies in their different structural materials. The materials used for flame-retardant cables are mainly flame-retardant raw materials, and their outer layer is selected as a flame-retardant sheath, including its fillers. The fire-resistant cable is composed of a combination of conductors and insulation layer, with a fire-resistant layer added in the middle.

2. The second difference is that the principles are different. Flame retardant cables are mainly produced through the flame retardant effect of halogen materials, which can reduce the temperature through water outlet and achieve the purpose of extinguishing. Fire-resistant cables are made of a mica material that, based on its properties, has the characteristics of fire resistance and heat resistance, so they can be used for an extended period of time in the event of a fire.
